Handgrip

 For our older, and lighter cameras, we find the handgrip a great way of holding the cameras. It makes a smaller camera easier to control.

Degree Level Economics

 Helping out a student studying for an Economics Degree. With some help from Excel, an Economics A-level text, and my Wife's degree, we helped solve the problems.

RYA First Aid Course

Two of my crew, wife and son, attended an RYA First Aid Course to keep their skills up to date and learn some of the differences in First Aid in the water and on boats.

 Setting up to do our regular Podcast on Going Green, looking into what you can do to help make a better, greener country and world to live in. Each week we showcase and talk about a different topic in in Going Green.

Soundraw AI

 Soundraw AI offers a vast range of tunes for various themes in different genres. Sometimes this is a good place to start composing since the AI is still limited in what can be done from the interface.

Using the Speed editor

 Editing Video footage in Davinci Resolve Studio - using the speed editor really does speed up editing for me whereas my son uses the keyboard shortcuts in the standard editor.

Handstrap or Neckstrap

 The Handstrap and the neckstrap are both useful on the camera, but it is often either one or the other. I have found using the Smallrig cage on the Canon R5C, I can get both, which is useful for carrying the camera around and then taking photos or videos.

Drone overhead

 Taking the drone out for some practice, at taking photographs, and creating some video footage.

Choosing an Electric Motor

 

Reading through the adverts for electric engines for boats. There is no easy comparison all the units used are different to work out their power and range, even within the same company.

Organ Lesson Setup

Ready for an Organ Lesson, Pedal cam in Place, overhead camera Monitors for Zoom and the New Blackmagic Micro Studio camera as a facecam right next to the screen.
 

Predicted Rise in Co2 levels

The view from Gridwatch reveals that despite the cold weather, the UK is still relying on coal for energy. Unfortunately, the Met Office has predicted an increase in CO2 levels this year rather than a decrease, which poses a significant threat to limiting the 1.5C rise. It is imperative to reduce the CO2 rate to achieve this goal, but it seems like that is not happening currently.

VCV Rack on a Wersi

Investigating installing this VCV Rack software on the Wersi organ to turn it into a super synthesiser. I have this working elsewhere, but it might be useful if I can get this to integrate with the Wersi.

 Online Webinars - Learning new skills. There is no end of free Webinars to help you learn new skills in every area you can think of and some that you wouldn't even imagine.

Camera on the Organ

Fitting the Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera in on top of the organ close to the Monitor. It fits just above the Organs Extra Monitor and the screen I use for Zoom calls. With a 14mm Lens, this gives a great quality 4K image.

 

The Home Studio

Working in the studio with 4 cameras, a visualiser, and a computer hooked up to an ATEM extreme with two-way communication with the students controlled via a streamdeck.

Still no sailing

 Wishing for a time when I can go sailing when I have a day off, the river is not in flood and racing currents and there is some wind. Slim chance at present.

70-200mm Lens

 The Canon 70-200mm f2.8 L Lens is probably my favourite goto Lens. As a Medium to Long Telephoto, it is great when outside, and the large aperture allows for good work in the Winters low light.

Working on the Podcast

Working on more Podcasts for Going Green. With 2023 being the hottest year on record and us approaching the critical 1.5C and more of its consequences.

 

Silent Movie Clips

 Working for Upper Thames Sailing Club, we have come across some old silent movie footage of their regattas from a hundred years ago. Now to see if we can create some Music to back these tracks with the master of this Tom Horton.

Eye Relief

Looking into the concept of Eye Relief on a rifle scope. Most students, they had no idea why this was done until we looked into the subject of recoil.

 

Looking at the flood damage from the Air

Using the drone to look at the local flooding of the River Gade in the Park. The water levels were down, and the Park was not so flooded.

 

Drone over water

 With all the local flooding, I thought it might be interesting to get some aerial footage of the local flooding if we can find a suitable area to fly, and I'm not too sure about flying another drone over the water.

Visit to Gadebridge Lake

We visited the newly formed Gadebridge Lake, watching the river flood into the park, tracing its original route before the river was managed. Here is the Upper Thames Sailing Club before and current.

 

Generating all types of sound

Such a versatile machine the #wersi OAX 800  playing everything from church music to synth-generated sounds and captured sounds of real instruments and mixing these together to make some unique sounds and melodies.

 

New Blackmagic Camera

Trying out broadcasting using the new 4K Blackmagic Micro camera. The picture quality seemed a good shame Zoom was misbehaving.
 

Not doing timelapse of clouds moving

 Very windy. So, we do not have to record the timelapse of clouds moving, but we will have to do a lot about the wind noise.

Sailing Manager

 Paul is getting to grips with the Sailing Manager, updating the website and adding cool new features to get hold of the flow rate data for the river so the members have a one-stop place to look at the weather and river conditions.

 Delighted that we made 60000 subscribers by 2024. It was a great New Year's Day Present!
