Cubase

Trying to get to grips with Cubase. The Wersi organ seems to work best with Cubase, so it is a case of learning this so I can create styles.

 

Still changing clocks

 Many of the clocks in my house change automatically as daylight savings time ends. I thought I did all the clocks, but I am still finding that as I use each camera I have to adjust the clock.

Mums 92 birthday

 Mum’s 92nd birthday present, so she can watch the birds feeding from her armchair. Paul and I managed to get it up between the showers.

The Next Step

 For GCSE students, now is the time to start thinking of the next step, Apprenticeships, BTEC or A-Levels and then onto a degree, then a career. They learn then it works better backwards, What degree do I need for this Career, and what qualifications to take that degree.

Upgrade to the stream deck software allows better control of the HyperDeck

 After a recent upgrade to the stream deck software, we can now better control the Blackmagic Hyperdeck shuttle correctly so I can more easily play clips in my live streaming and Zoom calls when teaching online.

Filming up close

 A versatile camera with a reasonable zoom and macro facility makes the Lumix FZ2000 still one of the most useful cameras we have around. Used with a Benro tripod we can get in anywhere and fil almost anything we do.

Small Blackmagic camera ordered

 Ordered a new camera. There are often times when I need to get a camera in tight spaces and this should fit the bill nicely.

Wersi Upgrades

At the Allens Music Extravaganza in Peterborough talking to Ulrich Wildhach the lead programmer from Wersi looking at the new OS upgrades in Version 3 and the new Lowery Activation. All the sampled sounds of a Lowery organ.
 

Novation keyboard

 Using the Novation 61SL Mark 3 keyboard for some music practice. Connected to AbletonLive the keyboard is great for doing some practice and creating some backing tracks. It can help create accompaniments as well as help produce some live tutorials.

Teaching Maths online

 

Teaching Maths online is much easier than science. I just need a visualiser, a Wacom Cintiq and a couple of cameras connected to an ATEM and stream-deck to control all the transitions.

Replacement Power supply

 I run my Blackmagic 4K cameras off the mains most of the time because they are used in a studio, but I do move them around a lot, so instead of bending down and crawling under tables, I decided another power supply elsewhere might save my knees.

Where to put the cameras on the boat?

 Where to put the cameras on the boat. At the end of the rudder facing in, on the mast beam, on the end of the boom facing in, at the top of the mast looking down. Nowhere is ideal. We will probably have to use GoPros, but changing the battery on the one at the top of the mast will be a pain.

 My son Mark was photographing me and my other son in the boat, and then some ducks came along.

Getting out a lower box

 I asked my son to get out one of the lower boxes. Rather than taking down the higher boxes he carefully managed to extract a lower box leaving the others in place.

Filming

 Online science lessons are about getting into the action. Sometimes by the use of close-up and slow-motion filming, we can see more about what is going on.

Annometer

 Ever since I bought this annometer the wind speed hasn’t got above 12km/hr. Today the air is very still again so we went to my Mum’s rather than sailing.

Broadband now installed and working

After many months of waiting, the new broadband by @heybroadband is finally in and connected to the load balancer. It was an interesting piece of kit the engineer had, splicing the fibre optic cable and adding a join to add the connector by welding.

My Editing

For my editing, I prefer to use the Speed Editor. I get on well with this. I make shorter and simpler videos, which require cutting and reorganising. We have to go to the editing machine with all the extra bells and whistles for the larger productions.
 

Crew Ready to go sailing

 

The wet weather gear arrived so now we are all ready to go sailing this weekend.

Sail boat racing

 I like watching sailboat racing. There are times when you sit at the bank when all the boats have gone by, then there are times when they all return, and you have to grab the shot and the video.

 

Using a slider

 When the object is not moving much then sometimes a slider can be used to add some more interest by revealing what is going on as the object comes into view.
