Installing a Load Balancer

Finally, tackling router settings after putting it off for a while. Searching through various manuals for information has been tough, and some suppliers make it even more challenging. Lots of trial and experimentation are involved to ensure everything works smoothly!

An internet load balancer is a device or software that is designed to distribute incoming network traffic across multiple servers or network resources. The primary function of a load balancer is to optimise resource usage, maximize throughput, minimize response time, and prevent server overload. In my case I am doing this the other way round to ensure that I always have an internet connection.

The load balancer continuously monitors the health and performance of the servers, and if one server fails or becomes unavailable, the load balancer automatically redirects traffic to another available server. This process ensures that the workload is evenly distributed across all servers, eliminating bottlenecks and reducing the risk of system failure.

Load balancing is essential in high-traffic environments, such as web applications, e-commerce sites, and online gaming platforms, where resource demand can be unpredictable and fluctuate rapidly. The load balancer helps ensure that the system is always available and responsive to users, even during high traffic or server failure periods.
