cleaning all the machines.

I am out blowing air through all the servers and PCs, getting rid of all the dust that has accumulated, to keep the machines running cool and efficient. I don't believe how much dust there is.

moving up and down the Thames

As we had the camera boat out on the water this chap happened to pass us by doing some tricks on the water and being knocked off by the cruisers wake as they travelled up and down the Thames at a rate of knots.

Whaly Coyote

Whaly Coyote the Camera Boat. Mounting cameras on the light frame or on a tripod and using a gimbal gives good, steady footage and great angles on the boats.

Making a boat name

We are creating our boat name using the Scan'n'cut to cut the letters out of vinyl, which hopefully will stick on the boat successfully.

Three Generations of Olympus Tough

Three Generations of Olympus Tough—with three members of the family, I have the TG-5, and my wife has the TG-7. We find these significantly better than a phone for more extreme conditions, such as the British Climate.

Streaming bridge

I am setting up the streaming bridge to link the classroom studio and the main studio so that I can now broadcast from either or both at the same time. This will help improve the online lesson practicals because all the cameras are always set up and ready to go.

Getting outside and doing a little filming in the summer - waterproofs on deciding whether I need a hat on to keep the rain out rather than the sun off my head.

The Wersi works again

After quite a few hours of work, the Wersi is playing again.  A new motherboard, a few hours of fault finding on the board, then enabling the software and then an hour or so online with Ulrich, the software developer in Germany, sorting out the software and installing the VST, and now it works perfectly.

Aerial Photography

Aerial Photography is now so much simpler than it used to be. Flying after school hours on the school grounds to capture an aerial view of a school.

New Wersi Motherboard arrives

The New Wersi motherboard and SSD drive arrive. With an upgrade of memory, a new fast M.2 Drive, a new processor, and Windows 11, it should be faster and fast enough to solve the VST problems, and Claire can also fit it today.

Lens Caps

Found some great lens caps for the Olympus Tough cameras we use. The cameras are ideal for the UK weather with heavy rain giving any need to worry about the camera. The lens cap protects the lens when the camera is in a pocket.

Creating a Boat Logo: Design it, and when artwork is difficult to create, use AI to help. Then, print it out on vinyl and stick it to the boat.

Panasonic Workhorse

It's great for interviews and run-and-gun but equally good on the tripod, using the zoom lens to capture the action. With a Shotgun mic on one channel and a wide mic on the other, the sound is excellent. With a good battery life, what is not to love?

Right Time Right Place

Getting the right Photos is about being in the right place at the right time with the right camera pointing in the right direction. Using video to capture also means that more images can be captured to get the right one - better than motor drive sometimes.
