Bernoulli's principle

 I couldn't blow for long enough so we had to get the air compressor out to demonstrate Bernoulli's principle. It was useful for balancing the ball on a straw and good for the flow over and under a planes wing. #iteachphysics

This is a demonstration of how ions move. The like charges repel and the unlike charges attract. These aluminium spheres act in the same way that ions move.

Stream deck upgrade

 Finally have put on the focus and zoom functions onto the stream deck which makes it so easy to focus the cameras and zoom whilst doing the lessons. Now I can zoom in on the action without an additional cameraman.

Changing spaces

 Turning the classroom into a studio then back again to a science lab studio to a Photography studio all the space of a few hours. Lots of moving lights mics and cameras.

Tidy Wires

 

Tidying away the wires, putting them into loops with half a twist and velcroing them together keeps the wires tidy and organised and not a tangle when you want to use them next time.

 Blowing down the funnel holds the ping pong ball in the neck of the funnel - counter intuitive

 Using the Lumix to get in nice and tight on the plotting compass so the viewers can see what is going on, as we create another video for the Education Channel.

With the shorts being so popular on the site, time to make some more. The viewers ask why can't you explain all these complex science theories in less than a minute and do a full demo?

I have heard of a viral video but I have never seen one and especially one of mine. We hit the 1 million views on 6th, then 1.5 Million on 8th and the 2 million by 9th and we are fast  approaching 2.5 million. Subscribers are also up and this is keeping us very busy keeping up with replies.

Over balancing a tripod

To get the desired angle on tripod, we were well over the point of centre of gravity, but by the use of some cord and a very heavy mass we managed to stabilise the tripod to get the picture we wanted.

Different online lesson

Setting up for my online organ lesson today. Time to set up the Jib and the other cameras and link up the sound using the Rodecaster and the ATEM for the video feeds via Zoom.

Filming Magnetic Fields in a Solenoid

Filming Magnetic fields in a solenoid. Using a Lumix Hybrid camera with its great macro mode to bring closeup images of the plotting compass as it journeys through the magnetic field. Using a slider we could move the compass and the camera in sync for the best images.

Tentacle Sync

When we make videos we need to sync the cameras together. We can use the sound track to do this, but this can be a tiny bit out of sync. This is where the time codes generated by the tentacle sync help by sending the same time code to each camera to keep them together.
